## The problem

Let S be a finite nonempty set and let f:\(S^3\)->S be symmetric in its three arguments. Suppose there is a binary operation * on S such that f(x,y,z)=(x*y)*z for all x,y,z in S. Must there also be a commutative binary operation o on S such that f(x,y,z)=(x o y) o z for all x,y,z?
